I am grateful for these things

It's 2012.
I think it's time for a year for reflecting on what I'm grateful for.

I am really grateful for sun. This summer has been a complete disaster, weather-wise. We’ve had maybe 2 days of all day sun in the last 2 months, and it’s been rainy, stormy and cold.

I have taken every Monday in January off work, so J and I can spend some time together and do cool things while we have access to a car.

This week we went all around the city, going places we had never been before. On top of that,  I was lucky enough to witness J having his first Mr Whippy. What a kiwi kid thing! I had forgotten all about sherbet dip until I saw it on the board and man, it was like a wave of memories came rushing back. awesome.

These days are good.

I haven’t laughed this hard at something on the internets in ages!

I’m grateful for my dad.   He is a free spirit, and he is a really hard worker. I’m grateful that he is back in my life after quite a few years apart. I think now that I’m older I understand him as a person more.
He is a musician and is often busking on the streets, or playing at local markets. He’s good at what he does, and I’m proud of him.  I’m grateful to him for the things I see in me that are his-a love of music, a glass half full approach to most things, and a relatively outgoing personality.

Today, I am just grateful for a lazy day off. It feels like a long time since I’ve woken up when I want, done exactly what I wanted and just relaxed. Nothing to be done, no obligations.

So I slept in, read my book, listened to music, had some peanut butter toast, watched a DVD, ate some fancy jellybeans, took a long hot shower and now I’m back in bed! Pretty much perfect.

I love the magic of fireworks.

I have millions of really horrible amateur photos of every firework display I’ve ever seen, but I can never capture the awesomeness. I think it’s because:

1) I’m crap at taking photos. Like, really rubbish.

2) It’s not really about how they look, but more how I feel. And how I imagine everyone else looking at them feels too.

I think these pictures by keisotsu are amazing.

Today I’m actually feeling pretty grateful for a lot of things. But one thing I am really grateful for is all the awesome, cheap food places that there are to try in this city.
Today J and I went to Barilla Dumpling, and it was delicious.
and I am now feeling full and happy and a bit tired.

The first thing that I’m grateful for this year are glowsticks.
I particularly love shitty ones, ones that make necklaces, and mankini ones.
